2011 Veggie Pride Parade Photos 10/31/11
Chillies, tomatoes, carrots and grapes took to the streets of Cape Town on Saturday for the Veggie Pride Parade.
What started out looking like a rainy day in the Mother City all changed when the Veggie Pride Parade started their walk through town. Like last year, there were carrots and grapes, chillies and tomatoes wandering the streets, sharing the vegetarian message and having some fun.
Toni Brockhoven, who heads up Public Liaison & Media for Beauty Without Cruelty South Africa, said about the day: “Cape Town’s possibly damp day changed when we started walking (albeit a little later than planned! I SAID we’d bring our own sunshine! Huge ‘thank you’s to those who went to so much trouble with their costumes; to everyone who braved the possible rain; those who handed out many hundreds of leaflets; to Free Range Jewels for the prizes; Vitamilk for the (very, very yummy) milk and the fabulous food and the Vegan Soc who also arranged the Food Not Bombs food handouts – I am told the curry was awesome! It seems a good time was had by all!”
Here are a few snaps from the day.
