No matter what the disease – the road to health begins with cleansing and detoxification.

Your digestive system is the cornerstone of your overall health and the food we eat is the primary thing that will affect your health. Think of your body as a state-of-the-art Ferrari that has been designed to run on the highest quality fuel – if you put inferior fuel into its engine it is going to cough and splutter. It will never be able to perform at its true potential.

Cleansing works because our bodies are infinitely intelligent and highly forgiving, our bodies are designed to cleanse and regenerate, to do so, it simply needs the right building blocks.


Cleansing can be accomplished in many different ways:

The easiest way to detoxify is to stop toxifying in the first place. As soon as you cut out toxic or highly processed foods and reduce your intake of animal foods, you are giving your body a chance to begin to cleanse.

Drink 1 litre of clean water on rising
Have two probiotic capsules, followed by MSM tablets or powder with water, before breakfast
Drink 500ml fresh green juice or a green smoothie before breakfast (see recipe below)
Have Chia porridge for breakfast (see recipe below)
Take enzymes with each cooked meal you eat during the day
Eat as much of your food as you can raw, organic and plant-based
Snack on fresh organic fruit during the day
Eat a sprout salad for lunch
Have zeolites before bed with water

Detox symptoms
Often toxins previously stored in your tissues are released back into the bloodstream while they wait to be excreted from the body. It is because of the increase of toxins in the blood that some people experience what is known as a ‘detox or healing crisis’. Different people experience this in varying degrees and some, not at all. Nausea, weakness, light-headedness, rashes, smelly breath, furry tongue, lethargy, fatigue or flu-like symptoms are not uncommon. If you experience any of these while undertaking a cleanse – drink lots of extra pure water to help flush circulating toxins from your system and take supplements such as zeolites, fulvic acid and enzymes.


Basically Green Juice
Makes 250 – 300 ml, dilute with the same quantity of water to make 500 – 600 ml
2 Apples
1/2 Cucumber
2 Celery stalks
1/2 lemon
Juice all the ingredients and dilute with water.

Apples combine well with vegetable juices, making them sweeter and more palatable. Apples, cucumber and celery are light and gentle on the digestive system. Cucumber is a good source of potassium and celery is an excellent source of sodium. The celery leaves make the juice taste a little bitter, so remove them if you find the taste of the leaves overwhelming

Chia Porridge
Chia seeds are very high in Omega-3, which is exceptionally good for brain health. The seeds facilitate weight loss and act as an anti-inflammatory. 
Chia porridge is a sublimely simple breakfast to prepare, tastes lovely, is quick to make and incredibly healthy.

1 cup chia seeds
2 cups water
Chopped fruit

Take the chia and cover it with the water and allow it to soak up the water for 10 -20 minutes – it will swell to almost 10 times in size. Use this as a porridge base and add honey, cinnamon and raisins to taste and/or add freshly chopped fruit sprinkled with nuts and superfoods.
 You can also make a sesame milk and pour it over the top.

Sesame Milk
750ml water
1 cup sesame seeds
2 tablespoons honey
Blend all the ingredients in a blender and strain through a nut milk bag.
Green Smoothie
1 bunch spinach
1 mango
1 banana
Half a lemon

Blend all these ingredients together in a blender.

The spinach provides the green alkalising minerals that the body thrives on and the fruit and lemon makes it both palatable and refreshing.
