COPART Climate Fluency Exchange
This weekend’s events over the 4th and 5th December consist of a range of public events and installations in Kalk Bay and Khayelitsha. COPART* will be playing with lifejackets, coral, trains, crochet, fish, the beach, recycling, murals and you’re invited!

Saturday, 4 December:
You are more than welcome to join us at the Cape Town train station on Saturday morning at 9am in the forecourt to meet the COPART family before we take the train to …Kalk Bay. Once on the train, we will take part in open discussions facilitated by the Woodstock Art Reef Project. Once at Kalk Bay, there will be time for lunch and dip in the tidal pool before we embark on a social sculpture entitled Agents for Change, probably at Kalk Bay Harbour. The day will end at around 3:30pm.

Sunday, 5 December:
Meet us at the forecourt of the Cape Town train station at 1pm on Sunday to join us on a journey to a recycling centre in Khayelitsha in need of some decorating. Bring old broken crockery for mosaic-ing as well as empty chip packets and anything else you can think of for cobbing this recycling centre and swap shop. (Address: F17 Xabiso Square, Khayelitsha)

Friday, 10 December:
During the afternoon on Friday, 10 December, the participants of the COPART Climate Fluency Exchange will offer a collaborative response to the COP negotiations currently taking place in Cancun, Mexico. This public performance will take place in the Company Gardens.

During the week:
The 6 Dec -10 Dec will consist of less extraverted engagements with recognised scientists, activists and artists working through session that seek out new solutions to complex problems. The week’s activities will also be strongly linked to the COP negotiations currently taking place in Cancun Mexico. Our vision is to re imagine ways of living and connecting in light of the scale and urgency of addressing climate change.

*What is COPART?

COPART is a creative movement that fosters the incubation of a new form of conscious activism for sustainability in a changing climate that is articulate, compassionate, peaceful and intelligent. COPART is not an organisation but a
new way of learning and doing.
