I find that the “fakery” products seem to really help people in the transition period. For me they have become less and less important over time and now are in the freezer for those emergency days when I haven’t got enough fresh produce or have to go to a braai and don’t have the time to make my own patties or veggie-foil packs, skewers etc.

I do laugh when people ask why vegans try to imitaite animal products though – as if the suasage or burger is some kind of “natural” form of food – something I think this blogger was trying to poke some fun at: http://therationalvegan.blogspot.com/2011/05/plant-analogs.html

Great point – I guess if we were really going to “imitate” meat we would have to somehow make a veggie product that looked like a bloody slab of flesh!
