The first Veggie Buntch Supper Club of 2013 was a warm and enjoyable evening at Long Street’s Masala Dosa. The night featured a 100% vegan menu as well as delicious Tormentoso vegan wines. Masala Dosa, run by Amit Raz, has always supported vegetarian and vegan cuisine and they have a varied and mouth-watering menu. I was very impressed with the Sev Puri starter as well as their classic Masala Dosa main which was followed by a comforting sweet dessert.

With reasonable prices and a welcoming atmosphere, Masala Dosa is a must for Cape Town vegetarians and vegans. Situated at 167 Long street, you can book by calling 021 424 6772.

There is going to be a little break with the Veggie Buntch Supper Clubs, but they are going to continue later this year. Make sure you sign-up for the newsletter so that you don’t miss out.

Take a look at some photos from the evening.

Sev puri – puffed Indian bread filled with chickpeas and layered with coriander chutney, tamarind, salsa and crispy crackles

Masalad – salad greens in a 4-herb dressing with spicy seeds and nuts

Masala dosa – the restaurant's signature dish: rice and lentil crepe served with curry, coconut chutney and a spicy lentil broth.

Suji halwa – semolina pudding cooked in coconut milk with apricots, saffron and cardamom. Served with rose syrup
