Starting tomorrow, the Oprah Winfrey Show is going to be airing the “Vegan Challenge” (in the U.S). The plan? Oprah and 378 members of her staff are taking on a one-week vegan challenge.

According to This Dish is Veg“Back in 2008, Oprah decided to dabble in ‘conscious eating’ and spent 21 days on a vegan cleanse. The daytime talk show host claimed to have had a difficult time with the experience, she craved eggs—which she seldom ate prior to the cleanse—and longed for cheese daily. While she was not ready to call herself a vegan, or even a vegetarian, at the end of the experience, Oprah said she would be more mindful of her choices.”

Oprah will be speaking to guests Michael Pollan and Kathy Freston. Viewers will also be given a look at what happens inside a beef processing plant with Lisa Ling.

It’s phenomenal that veganism is going to be given such a strong focus by Oprah – she is one of the most influential women in the world – and it is going to be interesting to see how many people will now become more accepting of the concept of veganism. Because, if it’s ok with Oprah, there are a lot of people who will follow suit.
