Plant Cafe Cape Town: Vegan and vegetarian 02/25/14
Cape Town's first totally vegan restaurant opened this month. Here's a taste of the menu - if you haven't tried it, do!
Update: Plant has moved to 8 Buiten Street
Plant is the latest addition to Cape Town’s trendy lunch (and breakfast) scene and features a menu that will have any vegetarian, vegan or veggie lover drooling. The menu items are a far cry from the stock standard cheese and tomato combos you’ll find at most Cape Town cafes.
Here are a few items off the menu that I can’t wait to devour – and best of all, they deliver in the city bowl! There are also loads of nutritious smoothies.
- Breakfast Wrap
A flavourful tofu scramble fried up with caramelised onions, quinoa and our home-smoked tempeh bacon in a wrap and sealed with our very own cream cheese. Contains nuts. Add Spicy Mayo side.
- LUNCH SPECIALS – R35

Salad and ½ a Ciabatta – One portion of your choice of salad and a half portion of the Eggless Egg Salad Sandwich or Plant Sandwich.

- Buddha Box
Asian style marinated tofu, encrusted in sesame seeds on a bed of brown rice, topped with peanut-miso gravy. Served with a side of seasonal greens and ginger-miso dressing. Gluten-free. Contains sesame seeds. Contains nuts.
- Spicy Mushroom Shushi
Six pieces of teriyaki wild mushroom mix, avocado and sprouts. Gluten-free.
A traditional Italian biscuit made by setting toasted flaked almonds in caramel and drizzled with melted chocolate. Gluten free. Contains nuts.
