This Weekend: Paarl OmmiBerg Festival 03/11/11
Harvest time in the Paarl wine valley means this weekend will be festival-filled!
Being in Cape Town during harvest time is a treat. There are always markets, festivals, tastings and stompings to choose from. This weekend is no exception.
The Paarl Ommiberg Round the Rock Festival is happening tomorrow from 9am – 6pm and will offer festival-goers live music, farmers markets, entertainment and ofcourse, plenty of wine!
Each participating wine farm in the Paarl region will have its own programme, but activities will centre around celebrating this year’s harvest season. Some fun activities that will surely be highlights are the Boland Kelder “red wine swimming pool” where prizes will be on offer, Laborie’s grape stomping and Rhebekskloof’s cork shooting competition. For those who prefer a bit of browsing, there will be plenty of market stalls to find fresh-from-the-farm goodies.
Cost is R60 per person, and can be paid at your first wine farm stopover. For a detailed programme per wine farm, go to the Ommiberg website here.
